Extrusion
What is the extrusion process?
It is a hot transformation process in which aluminium alloy cylinders (billets) are converted into profiles by compressing them against a tool known as a die, which gives them the desired shape.

Production Cycle
The billet is first heated to 460 °C and then cut according to the amount of profile to be extruded.
The extrusion press receives the billet on one side and the die on the opposite side, which is also preheated to avoid thermal shock.
The billet is then compressed against the die by a piston, and the profile, shaped by the die, emerges from the press.
Fans placed at the press exit and along a track approximately 100 meters long cool the profile, whose tip is gripped by a puller that drags it to the end of the track.
Next, the profile moves to the stretching table, where it is held at both ends by clamps and stretched to correct any twisting or warping, then cut to the dimensions requested by the client.
Finally, the profiles go through an ageing process in a furnace at 185 °C for 6 hours to enhance their mechanical properties.
After this, the profile can be packaged and shipped or sent to Anicolor’s Surface Treatment Unit for anodising or powder coating.
